He Meant All

Today I’m going to share with you one of my works. It’s a song I wrote and it speaks to the finished work on the cross.

Christ took our sin upon Himself that day, and He took our shame and our guilt as well.

But how often do we believers find ourselves taking back from Him that heavy burden? How often do we let His precious gift remain only partially fulfilled in our lives as we heap back upon our hearts the shame and guilt He so lovingly died for?

That’s not salvation. Not as it was meant to be.

When He said that “It is finished,” He meant all and He meant forever.

I hope this song speaks to you 💗

I MEANT ALL

You want to hide, Guilt’s knocking at your door.

You’re weary, you have gone through this before.

You can’t deny the claims he has on you,

For everything he says you’ve done is true.

He tells you that you can’t escape his grasp,

You cannot wash the stains out of your past.

You don’t want to accept this as your fate.

You cry out to be freed from all this weight.

And that is all you need,

Your Savior hears your plea,

And to your trembling heart you hear Him say,

•••••

“My child you do not have to be alone.

I’ve loved you long before you were My own.

The day I hung to die upon that cross

That was the day sin’s hold on you was lost.

If I could love you as My enemy

Do you think I’d send my child away?

No need to fear, your sins I won’t recall-

When I said ‘It is finished’, I meant all.”

•••••

Your heart is crushed, you’ve fallen down again

You’re weeping ’cause you’ll never beat this sin.

As you allow the helplessness to grow,

The shadows come and overwhelm your soul.

You wonder how you could have come so far.

You try to do what’s right, but it’s so hard.

You long to know that Jesus is still there.

No words will come, you cry out your heart’s prayer.

And that is all you need,

Your Savior hears your plea,

And of His loving presence you’re aware.

•••••

He says, “My child, you never are alone.

I’ve loved you long before you were My own.

The day I hung to die upon that cross

That was the day sin’s hold on you was lost.

If I could love you as My enemy,

Do you think I’d send my child away?

No need to fear, your sins I don’t recall –

When I said ‘It is finished’, I meant all.

“When Satan whispers to your heart

That you will never win

Remind him that at Calvary

His power found its end.

And though all Hell should try to claim

Possession of your soul

I stand as mercy’s Advocate

Declaring to them all:

•••••

“That this, my child, will never walk alone.

I’ve loved him long before he was My own.

The day I hung to die upon that cross

That was the day your hold on him was lost.

If I could love him as My enemy,

Do you think I’d send my child away?

He need not fear, his sins I don’t recall –

When I said ‘It is finished’, I meant all.”

  1. Beautiful Savannah, I could hear a tune in my head while reading your lyrics. We do need to be reminded that when He said “it is finished.” He paid for everything. Thank you my sweet sister in the Lord.
