Intro to Prayer Journaling

How many of you want to pray every day but find yourselves struggling to be consistent?

Who does pray every day, but wishes there was a way to freshen up that part of your devotions?

Prayer journaling is a great method to staying consistent as well as keeping things fresh. It can be done however best suits your schedule, preferences, and personality. That’s part of what’s so great – it’s totally customizable!

Let’s take a quick look at a couple different ways to journal:

➡️Day by Day – you can have a system where each day you actively engage in journaling. This may be one of the most common systems, but again it can be set up any way you like. Here are a couple popular methods:

• Like a diary/journal – you write our your prayer for the day as if you were writing a journal entry.

• Fill-in-the-blanks – there are many different printables online and notebooks that give you sections each day to fill out. This may include blessings, prayer requests, praises, etc. Here are a couple links if you want to print some at home:

➡️Month by month/year by year – This is where you can separate requests and answers by category for month or year incriments (or any time frame you choose.) You can buy a binder, some dividing tabs, and looseleaf paper (or scrapbooking paper if you’re feeling more crafty!) to keep record of prayer requests. Think cookbook style. There’s a section for each category (example – family requests, friend requests, church requests, country requests, missionary requests, etc.) Then within those sections you can list the prayer requests (perhaps include pictures or prayer cards – be creative!) You can pray through these however you like – a section for each day of the week, etc.

If you want an example of something similar to this, google Water on the Floor Word Press Prayer Journal for Moms. It should be the first hit. (*I will add a disclaimer here that if you are specifically KJV only, this is not strictly KJV.)

This is by no means exhaustive but hopefully it will give you a launch pad to find a system that works for you! I know Amazon sells some physical journals for reasonable prices if you’re looking for something already put together.

  1. Thought I was the only one! I absolutely LOVE prayer journaling. Ha, I pretty much use my journal for everything (down from bible study notes, prayer to free writes). It is so convenient knowing you can talk to God anywhere at anytime. Awesome post ❤️

  2. Omg!! I actually have a post on my Instagram (@radiant.fuse) of some of the journals I have. Believe it or not, some of the best ones are from department stores (like TJ Maxx, Marshall’s). I’m big on sales and know for a fact that you do not have to spend big on cute books, just need an eye for it ❤️
